Boston Landing | New Balance HQ, Boston MA
*Designed while at CRJA|IBI Placemaking
…health, motion, and balance inform the development of a multi-sport mecca, residential community, and business center proximate to downtown Boston
As envisioned by its owners and the project design team, Boston Landing’s mixed use development kints an isolated area into the fabric of the surrounding Brighton residential neighborhood by activating the Guest Street corridor with high quality architecture, public open space, street level retail and restaurants, and streetscape improvements that connect pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers.
The planned development includes a new World Headquarters building for New Balance, two separate training facilities for the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, residential units, a state-of-the-art sports complex, new office buildings, and restaurant and retail spaces. The majority of the site development is on structure including the iconic sloped lawn.
As lead designer and project manager, Mr. Woods, with a team at CRJA and the project architect, provided multiple clients full landscape architectural design and construction administration services for the entire development including the NB headquarters site. Woods with CRJA is also designed the landscape within the public realm, including a public street, green space, parallel parking, sidewalks with associated street trees, lighting and site furniture.
